BOSTON -- In the months leading up to a fatal double shooting, Aaron Hernandez had become increasingly convinced that people had been "testing, trying or otherwise disrespecting him" when he went to nightclubs, prosecutors said. When a man bumped into Hernandez while dancing, spilling his drink, that may have been the last straw. Authorities say the former New England Patriots star followed the man and his friends, then opened fire on their car, killing two men and wounding a third. "I think I got one in the head and one in the chest," Hernandez said to a friend as they raced from the intersection where the victims were shot while they sat in their car at a stop light, prosecutors said at the former tight ends arraignment. Hernandez, already charged with killing another man last year, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to seven charges -- including two counts of first-degree murder -- in the 2012 shooting that killed Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The night de Abreu and Furtado were killed, Suffolk County First Assistant District Attorney Patrick Haggan said Hernandez and a friend drove from Connecticut to a Boston nightclub called Cure. They were standing at the edge of the dance floor when de Abreu accidentally bumped into Hernandez, smiled at him and did not apologize, according to prosecutors. Haggan said de Abreu and his friends did not appear to recognize Hernandez and had no idea he was upset. Hernandez became increasingly agitated and told his friend that de Abreu had deliberately bumped into him and "was trying him," Haggan said. Hernandez and his friend then went to another nightclub, where Hernandez thought he saw de Abreu and his friends come in, according to Haggan. Hernandez then told his friend he believed he was "being targeted and being disrespected," Haggan said. In fact, de Abreu and his friends had not left the other club. Haggan said Hernandez later drove around with his friend until he saw de Abreu, Furtado and others going to their car, then followed them and pulled up alongside their car at a red light. Hernandez leaned out the drivers side, said "Yo, whats up now," followed by a racial slur, then fired at least five shots into the car, killing de Abreu and Furtado, and injuring a man sitting in the back seat, Haggan said. Hernandezs attorney, Charles Rankin, objected to the description, saying the prosecutors account of the shooting was an attempt to poison the jury pool. Clerk Magistrate Gary Wilson dismissed the objection, saying it is standard procedure for prosecutors to describe evidence during arraignments in murder cases. Family members of the victims filled four rows in the courtroom. One woman sobbed loudly as Hernandez entered his not guilty pleas. De Abreu and Furtado were close friends who attended school and served in the military together in Cape Verde before coming to the United States, according to the attorney who represents their families in a $6 million civil suit against Hernandez. The two men were shot about six weeks before Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Patriots. He went on to catch 51 passes and score five touchdowns that season, his last in the NFL. Hernandez was released by the Patriots last summer after he was charged in the June 17 killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating a sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Lloyds body was found in an industrial area near Hernandezs home in North Attleborough. Hernandezs lawyers have said he is looking forward to proving his innocence. Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley would not comment when reporters asked if Lloyds killing was linked to the earlier killings of de Abreu and Furtado. He said Lloyd was not the friend who was with Hernandez the night the two men were killed. Hernandez will continue to be held without bail. He is due back in court June 24. Brian Giontas third-period goal tied the game for the Sabres and ended a run of three straight Panthers goals. Buffalo also got goals from Cody Hodgson and Marcus Foligno to win its third straight game. Jhonas Enroth made 25 saves in the win. Sean Bergenheim and Jimmy Hayes scored second-period goals to erase a 2-0 deficit for Florida, which lost two of three games on its road trip. Al Montoya made 28 saves for the Panthers but did not stop the only shot he faced in OT. It seems like its common ground these last couple of games in that first period we start digging ourselves a hole, Montoya said. Tyler Ennis puck-handling at the side of the net caught the attention of the Panthers defense, and they missed Zadorov jumping into the play from the point on the backside. Zadorov then wristed the puck by Montoya to end it. The Panthers took their first lead of the game 57 seconds into the final period. A Sabres neutral-zone turnover sent Dave Bolland skating the other way. Bolland connected with Jokinen and his shot found the back of the net. Later in the third, Tyler Myers found Gionta with a stretch pass through the neutral zone that sent the Buffalo captain in on a breeakaway.dddddddddddd Giontas shot beat Montoya to tie the game at 3-3 with 12:33 left. Buffalo needed just 2:06 to take the lead in the first period. Hodgson was scratched in Thursdays game and hasnt scored since Oct. 25, but he was able to find a soft spot in the defense, receive a pass from Patrick Kaleta and wrist a shot by Montoya. Its nice to get on the board offensively, but more important to be part of the team and be on the ice, Hodgson said. Eleven minutes later, Foligno extended the Sabres lead with an wrist shot that found its way past Montoya. A Sabres giveaway a minute into the middle period got the Panthers back into the game. Rasmus Ristolainen gave away the puck at the side of the net and Bergenheim was right there to capitalize with his fifth goal of the season. Not even five minutes later, Bergenheim spotted Hayes standing alone at the opposite goal post. His pass across the crease was on the mark, and Hayes lifted the puck by Enroth to tie the game. Game Notes Buffalo has won five straight home games ... The Sabres win snapped a four- game losing streak at home to the Panthers ... Buffalos Drew Stafford has two goals and two assists in a four game point streak ... This is only the third time this season the Sabres have outshot their opponent ... PARIS - Torontos Daniel Nestor and Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic were eliminated from the French Open on Monday after dropping a 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-6 (5) quarter-final decision to Marin Draganja of Croatia and Florin Mergea of Romania. Nestor and Zimonjic entered the tournament on a roll after winning back-to-back clay titles at Madrid and Rome. However, Draganja and Mergea took the third-set tiebreaker after trailing 4-1 to upset the third-seeded duo. "Its disappointing to lose but especially when you feel you have a chance to win a Slam," said Nestor. "We were prepared for this match. We had also gotten out of danger in previous matches this season and dealt with situations well. "It just didnt work out today." The match lasted two hours 18 minutes. Nestor had been bidding for a seventh Paris semifinal appearance. After Draganja and Mergea tied the match at a set apiece, Zimonjic was broken to start the third. They got the break back to move to 4-4 but were unable to prevent the tiebreaker. The underdogs earned the victory on their first match point to conclude a final set which took just over an hour. "Nobody is a nobody," Nestor said of the relatively unknown winning side. "They returned well, with like 20 clean winners. Its unfortunate we didnt do something with our chances in the tiebreaker. Every match is close from the first round. "We didnt do enough with some returns and should have played better." The 41-year-old Canadian is still alive in the mixed doubles competition with Kristina Mladenovic of France. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5th. The 34-year-old Laval, Que. native has played six seasons with the Penguins. Cheap Nike Shoes China .C. -- With a chance to start over and maybe drive in any series he wanted, Juan Pablo Montoya thought long and hard about what mattered most at this stage of his career. In his first CFL Draft at the helm of his own football team, Winnipeg Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters solidified his offensive line, pulled the trigger on a trade to move back into the second round, and found some value with his late picks. And while taking highly-touted Simon Fraser offensive lineman Matthias Goossen second overall on Tuesday night will definitely help in an area of need for the club, it was a swap of draft picks that may prove to be his most shrewd move. "When Jesse Briggs started to fall a little bit, you could just see Kyle perk up in his chair. ‘We might have a chance here," said head coach Mike OShea of the Blue Bombers war room on Tuesday night. "And then (hes) working the phone and pulls the trigger and we move up to get a guy that we really value. I think that was a great move. It was fun to be sitting right there watching him work." Winnipeg entered the draft with no picks in the second round, having sent their original along with Alex Hall late last season to Saskatchewan to acquire offensive tackle Patrick Neufeld — a 25-year-old Canadian they hope to be a ratio-breaking starter on the offensive line. The Bombers called up a familiar trade partner Tuesday, Roughriders GM Brendan Taman, and exchanged their two third-round picks (20th and 26th overall) for Saskatchewans second-rounder, taking Briggs 17th overall to add some depth to the linebacker corps. "Jesse Briggs was a guy that we rated high. We were looking for some depth at linebacker. A special teams player. A phenomenal athlete," said Walters of the 6-foot-1, 222-pound McGill product. "And when we had an opportunity — youre in constant talk with all the other teams — if Briggs is here at this number heres what well do. And talking to a bunch of teams. And we were able to get him where we wanted to so we jumped at it." "Briggs, we expect to push. Losing James Green, Pierre Labbe, we needed that role as a special teams guy," added Walters. "Hes going to come in and be given every opportunity to compete and win that role as he pushes." "He played the SAM linebacker position in college so he is comfortable in space, but we view him in our system as a linebacker. An in-the-box guy thats going to be turned loose and run around." But the biggest acquisition made Tuesday is the man who the club hopes will soon start at centre. The 6-foot-4, 294-pound Goossen was one of two O-linemen who came to Winnipeg in the past month for private workouts and interviews. The othher was Lavals Pierre Lavertu who went first-overall to Calgary.dddddddddddd "I was really impressed by the way that the coaches came across, hearing about how things have changed there," said Goossen in his post-draft conference call. "Its really good to see the changes and I know that itll be a great year this upcoming year." Over the winter, Walters mentioned on a few occasions that the team needed and would land a starter with the No. 2 pick, but Tuesday the GM curtailed those statements slightly when speaking specifically of the 21-year-old lineman. "Im not going to put any undue pressure on him. Hes expecting himself to come in and start," said Walters. "Lets let him get to Winnipeg and lets let him get his feet under (him) before we start putting undue pressure on him." "Given his age, I mean he is a man," said OShea of Goossen. "You see how hes built. His film says that hes got a real good chance at (starting), but being as young as he is I just feel theres a little bit of a difference here. We dont want to stick him in and ruin him, sort of get him shell-shocked and ruin his confidence. "If camp shows us, and he shows us in camp what he believes hes going to show us and what we think he can do, and thats the logical step for us, then hell be in there. And if he needs a bit of time then were quite willing to give him that — afford him that time to develop a little bit. But hes going to be a good player for a long time in this league and its up to me now and the offensive line coach to make sure we dont put him in a position thats going to hurt his confidence." "Im just going to go to camp and try to work as hard as possible and just try to get better every day," added Goossen when asked about potentially starting in his rookie year. "If the coaches want to put me as a starter then that would be great, but right now Im just trying to get into camp and contribute to the team." Winnipeg added another Simon Fraser product in the fourth round in 6-foot-1 defensive back Derek Jones. Jones comes from some impressive bloodlines, as his father Ed won five Grey Cups with the Edmonton Eskimos in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Another intriguing prospect was taken in the sixth round with 305-pound defensive lineman Quinn Everett out of Mount Allison, who Walters says will be expected to learn the nose tackle position as well as along the O-line. The club drafted McMaster linebacker Aram Eisho with their final selection in the seventh round. INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts needed a linebacker. DQwell Jackson just wanted to play for a winner. On Thursday, everybody got their wish. Jackson, who spent his entire career with Cleveland until being released last week, signed a four-year, $22 million contract to play with Indianapolis. "It wasnt a financial decision, it was a decision to be around a good group of guys first and foremost and the chance to get to a Super Bowl," Jackson said. "It wasnt about money." A chance to learn from one of the best pass-rushing linebackers in football made the decision easy, too. The 6-foot, 240-pound, eight-year veteran who had watched Robert Mathis for years will now be paired with the perennial Pro Bowler, who set a franchise single season record with 19 1/2 sacks and won his first league sacks title in 2013 at the age of 32. Jackson has been productive since Cleveland drafted took him in the second round of the 2006 draft. He started 96 games, had 891 career tackles, 11 1/2 sacks, eight interceptions, seven fumble recoveries and one touchdown. Last season, at age 30, he still led the Browns in tackles (143), posting his sixth 100-tackle season. He also had 1 1/2 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. But hes hoping Mathis can teach him something else. "I want to know how he found the youth somewhere. Im excited to pick his brain. Ive watched him throughout his glory days and hes still having his glory days," Jackson said. "Ive just got a good feeling in this situation." Hes not the only one excited about the move, which comes five days before the full free-agent market opens. "The Colts defence needs new members to turn up the bluheat.....maybe we should take a ride down 5200 Jackson Street," Mathis wrote Wednesday on Twitter, before the official announcement was made. It didnt take long for Jackson to figure out this would be a good match. He visited Tennessee, Denver and Miami before signing with the Colts, who guaranteed him $11 million in the deal. In Indy, he is reunited with running back Trent Richardson and new Colts assistant Rob Chudzinski. A year ago, Jackson and Richardson were projected to be starters under Chudzinski, then the Browns first-year head coach. Richardson was traded to the Colts in September for a first-round draft pick. Chudzinski was hired as a special assistant to coach Chuck Pagano last month. Jackson now gets a chance to play for a team coming off two straight playoff appearances and with an organization that has reached the post-season in 11 of the last 12 seasons. After reaching the divisional round last season, Paganos second in Indy, the Colts are hoping Jackson can help them take an even bigger step. "The tempo, energy and determination he plays with are right up there with the best in this league," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement released by the team. "He brings a welcomed element of experience and natural leadership to our team." With roughly $42 million to spend in free agency, the Colts were expected to continue improving the defence. At times last season, the Colts defence played well. At others, it really struggled. Adding Jackson may not give Indy the big pass-rushing presence to complement Mathis, but it should help shore up a position where four players could leave in free agency -- Pat Angerer, Kavell Conner, Scott Lutrus and Lawrence Sidbury. Angerer, Lutrus and Sidbury all finished last season on injured reserve. But Jackson came to Indy for one reason: To win. "The last few years this team has been productive and the success has been building for years," Jackson said, acknowledging he was willing to restructure his contract in Cleveland and left with no ill feelings toward his former team. "But this is a business. It didnt work out and I have a ton of respect for what theyre doing in Cleveland, but now Im an Indianapolis Colt." ORLANDO, Fla. -- A big early deficit and an opponents hot shooting hand didnt faze Nikola Vucevic or the rest of the Orlando Magic. Vucevic scored 24 points and grabbed 23 rebounds, and Jameer Nelson had five points in overtime as the Magic edged the Charlotte Bobcats 110-105 on Friday night. Aaron Afflalo, who finished with 17 points, sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer with 7.6 seconds remaining as Orlando won its second straight. In overtime, Nelsons 3-pointer with 2:26 left put Orlando ahead for good. "I knew it would turn around," Vucevic said. "I kept my confidence high. I had all good looks," said Vucevic, who was 11-for 22 from the field. "A 15-16 point lead in this league is nothing. You have to keep fighting, grinding and thats what we did tonight." Vucevic, who recorded his fifth career game with 20 points and 20 rebounds, keyed a dominant rebounding effort (57-36) by Orlando. His first-half total of 16 matched Charlottes team total through two quarters. Orlando, which trailed during the first 44 minutes, took a 94-93 lead on an Afflalos free throw with 1:12 left. But Josh McRoberts, who had a career-high 24 points, drove the lane to put Charlotte ahead. Kemba Walker then hit a fadeaway jumper with 14.6 seconds left to put the Bobcats up three -- setting up Afflalos tying 3. "It was great fight by all of the guys," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said. "Whether it was the unit that started the fourth quarter and really got us going defensively to put up a 16-point quarter versus a team like that or the mental fight of Nik Vucevic, who starts out the game 4-for-14 and doesnt give in and wills his way and helps his team. Pretty impressive in a lot of different ways." The Bobcats looked as though they had escaped after Walkers final basket in regulation, but a defensive lapse gave Afflalo a look, and the game went to overtime. "All youve got to do is do what were supposed to do right there and the game ends. That was it," Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said. "We have to make one play that you make time after time and we didnt make the play." Tobias Harris had 15 points for the Magic, while Victor Oladipo added 14 and Kyle OQuinn 13. Nelson, who missed the last four games with a sore knee, had 11. Walker matched McRoberts with 24 points for Charlotte, while Al Jefferson scored 20. Gerald Henderson added 14 and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist 10. "That was our biggest emphasis coming in: to get to the glass and be physical," Clifford said. "We werent willing to do that to start the game and thats what kept them (Orlando) in the game. I want to see a recommitment to the way we were defending and rebounding early in the year consistently. Were sporadic now." Orlando pulled to within one point twice in the third quarter, the last when OQuinns layup made it 59-58 with 7:17 remaining. Charlotte answered as McRoberts drained back-to-back 3-pointers and scored eight points during a 16-6 run that pushed the Bobcats lead back to double-digits at 75-64. Charlotte took an 81-74 lead into the fourth quarter. McRoberts, whose six 3-pointers were a career high, was often left unchallenged from 3-point range and took full advantage. He was 4-for-6 from behind the arc for all 12 of his first-half points as the Bobcats took a 50-41 halftime lead. Charlotte scored the games first five points and hit nine of its first 11 shots to take a 22-10 advantage on Kidd-Gilchrists dunk with 6:52 remaining. The Bobcats led by as many as 16 in the opening quarter. Orlando used 11 rebounds from Vucevic and eight points off the bench from Harris in the second quarter to get as close as 43-39 with 1:31 remaining in the second quarter. Charlotte then scored the next six points and finished the half on a 7-2 run to take a nine-point halftime lead. NOTES: The loss sent Charlotte 2 1/2 games behind Washington for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. ... This was only the third time since January that Charlotte lost to a team with a losing record. ... This was Orlandos 1,000th regular-season victory. ... NEW YORK -- The Yankees says X-rays on the right hand of catcher Brian McCann were negative. David Phelps hit A.J. Pierzynski with a pitch in the eighth inning of New Yorks 3-2 win over Boston on Sunday night, and the ball deflected off McCanns right index finger. McCann stayed in the game. Catcher Francisco Cervelli, playing at first base because of injuries to others, left in the fourth inning after getting hurt running to first. While originally called out, Cervelli was ruled safe after a video review -- giving New York its third run of the game. Cervelli had an MRI that showed a grade 2 right hamstring strain, and New York said he will be put on the disabled list before Tuesdays game against the Chicago Cubs, a move that will be retroactive to Monday. So for us, it is just fix the little things, and as long as we are mentally tough and we are strong, we have that belief nothing can stand in our way.Al Hilal, meanwhile, will be seeking to join South Koreas Pohang Steelers as the only three-time winners of the competition, adding to the titles it won in 1991 and 2000.Western Sydney has had trouble winning away from home in its debut season in the continental competition, but did manage to score in defeats to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan and 2013 champion Guangzhou Evergrande in China in the quarterfinals before sharing a 0-0 draw with FC Seoul in South Korea in the semifinals.Having the win and a one-goal advantage means we are ahead on aggregate and we have to take a lot of positives from that, Golec said. We know it is going to be hard, but we are going to work hard to get it.Australian clubs have rarely featured highly toward the end of the competition which has been dominated by South Korean and Japanese teams in the last eight years, with clubs from Qatar and China also winning during that span.ddddddddddddBut the Wanderers have put together a remarkable run for such a young club to reach the final. After topping its group, including 2012 Asian title holder Ulsan Horangi in its debut appearance in the Asian Champions League, Western Sydney had three tough encounters in the knockout stage. The Wanderers beat Japanese champion Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the second round and, most surprisingly, eliminated Marcello Lippis star-studded Guangzhou Evergrande squad in the quarterfinals.Al Hilal has been consistent and very solid in defence, and will get a boost from the return of striker Yasser Al Qahtani.Al Qahtani, who was forced to watch from the stands at Parramatta Stadium due to a suspension, will be eligible, giving coach Laurentiu Reghecampf an additional option in attack after the visitors struggled to equalize during the first leg defeat. We lost the first game, but I think we will win the trophy in the second game, said Al Qahtani, who has scored twice for Al Hilal in the Asian Champions League this season.Al Hilal have lost back-to-back games after also losing the second leg of their semifinal with Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, but are unbeaten at King Fahd International Stadium this season — winning their last five outings while scoring 13 goals and not conceding any. LONDON, England - Bottom-place Fulham beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday for its first win in the Premier League since New Years Day. The Cottagers last victory came in a 2-1 home win over West Ham when Rene Meulensteen was still in charge. Since then, a miserable run of seven defeats and two draws has seen the club part with the Dutch coach and replace him with German Felix Magath. And the 60-year-old Magath claimed his first victory since taking over when Ashkan Dejagah cut in from the left before rifling a shot under goalkeeper Tim Krul in the 68th minute. The win sees Fulham move to within three points of Crystal Palace in 17th place while Newcastle was left in ninth on 43 points. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew served the first of his seven-game ban for headbutting an opposing player. -- SWANSEA, Wales - West Bromwich Albion recovered from conceding an early goal by scoring twice in the second half to earn a 2-1 win at Swansea on Saturday in the Premier League. A day after severing ties with striker Nicolas Anelka, West Brom had a terrible start as Roland Lamah put Swansea ahead in just the second minute. But Stephane Sessegnon equalized in the 52nd and Youssuf Mulumbu netted the winner in the 85th to put West Brom three points above the relegation zone. They are now just one point behind 14-place Swansea. West Brom announced late Friday it had fired Anelka after the French forward said on Twitter that he had terminated his contract following his ban for a controversial goal celebration gesture. Spanish striker Michu came on as a substitute for Swansea, making his return after a lengthy injury layoff. -- SOUTHAMPTON, England - Southampton secured a 4-2 win over relegation-threatened Norwich in the English Premier League on Saturday. The Saints took a fifth-minute lead when Morgan Schneiderlin raced onto midfielder Gaston Ramirezs pass before slotting past John Ruddy. The visitors found themselves chasing a two-goal margin when substitute Ricky Lambert struck seconds after his introduction in the 57th. Lambert then turned provider for Jay Rodriguez, who converted from close range in the 72nd. Norwich set up a dramatic finale after grabbing two goals in quick succession. First through substitute Johan Elmander in the 85th before Robert Snodgrass beat goalkeeper Artur Boruc seconds later. But youngster Sam Gallacher calmed Southampton nerves as Norwich chased the equalizer, with the Canaries now a mere four points outside the relegation zone. -- SUNDERLAND, England - Crystal Palace held Sunderland to a 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Saturday in a game between two sides fighting to stave off relegation. The hosts dominated possession but struggled to create scoring chances, with Fabio Borini coming closest in the 83rd minute when his hard shot hit the crossbar. Kagisho Dikgacoi missed a late chance for the visitors to steal the win when his shot from the centre of the box went wide. Palace remained three points above Sunderland in 17th place, but the visitors have two games in hand. -- STOKE, England -- Peter Odemwingie scored twice as Stoke came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 and move further away from relegation danger in the English Premier League on Saturday. England striker Andy Carroll gave West Ham the lead in the fifth minute with his first goal since April, only for Peter Crouchs acrobatic effort to strike the shoulder of Odemwingie and ricochet in for the equalizer in the 32nd. Marko Arnautovic put Stoke ahead in the 69th and Odemwingie finished a counter attack with a powerful shot from an acute angle with 11 minutes to go. GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena to a $25 million, five-year contract Saturday. "We think he adds to our major league club at some point this year," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. The Dodgers had been negotiating with Arruebarrena for several days. The 23-year-old infielder defected from Cuba last fall, establishing residency in Haiti. He has been working out in the Dominican Republic, according to the Colletti. Colletti said Arruebarrena still has to acquire a work visa. "Well get him as soon as we can get him here," Colletti said. "We need to see him on an everyday basis." Arruebarrena was a teammate of Yasiel Puigs in the Cuban League from 2010-11. He is touted for his defence but Colletti said his offence still needs work. Still, Arruebarrena was starting shortstop for Cuba in the 2013 World Baseball Classic and batted .375 with four runs and two RBIs in six games. "Offensively, hes a work in progress," Colletti said. "Hes got power. Thats the part of his game that probably needs to get better. But his defencee is good enough that it was worth signing him.dddddddddddd. We signed him for the defensive part, knowing that he can play the middle of the diamond at a very high level. And, theres some offensive ability there that well try to fine tune." Arruebarrena joins Puig and Alex Guererro as three Cubans signed by the Dodgers in the past two years. Los Angeles also drafted pitcher Onelki Garcia in 2012. He defected to the United States in 2010. Puig said he has known Arruebarrena since he was 9-years-old and their families are acquainted. Through an interpreter, Puig said through a translator that their families know each other. He called Arruebarrena good player. Hanley Ramirez goes into 2014 as the Dodgers starting shortstop. Colletti, however, said that Ramirez would be willing to move to third base at some point. Arruebarrena has played third and second base. "But we see him as a shortstop," Colletti said of Arruebarrena. The contract includes a $7.5 million signing bonus. His salaries will be $1.5 million this year, $3 million in 2015, $4 million in 2016 and 2017, and $5 million in 2018. Matthias Mayer of Austria won the Olympic downhill in Sochi on Sunday. Mayer finished the Rosa Khutor course in 2 minutes, 6.23 seconds. Christof Innerhofer of Italy won silver and Kjetil Jansrud of Norway won bronze. Canadas Erik Guay finished 10th. Teammates Ben Thompson, Jan Hudec and Manuel Osborne-Paradis finished 19th, 21st and 25th respectively. Pre-race favorite Aksel Lund Svindal fourth and American Bode Miller finished eighth. Mayer was one of the first contenders to come down, with the No. 11 bib, and he hardly celebrated when he reached the finish. But his smile grew wider as all the favorites failed to catch him. Miller was one of the fastest skiers on the top section but lost speed when he hit a gate on a right turn a bit further down. "He pinched it off and went into the gate," Italian skier Dominik Paris said. "It was a critical section there." After crossing the finish, Miller sat down on his skis with a look of bewilderment on his face. That was understandable, considering that the American had dominated two of the three official training sessions. Svindal was also fast on top but lost speed when his large frame went soaring into the air over the big jumps lining the rest of the course. Mayer is short and compact and appeared more aerodynamic over the jumps. Mayeris one of the more surprising gold medalists in the sports marquee race, as he has never before finished better than fifth in a World Cup downhill. But Mayer led the second downhill training session and was third in the opening session. His father, Helmut, won a silver medal in the super-G at the 1988 Calgary Games. Mayer was not even supposed to be Austrias top contender but he was thrust into that position when Hannes Reichelt was sidelined with back surgery after winning the prestigious Kitzbuehel downhill on home snow two weeks ago. Ski-loving Austria has won more mens downhills at the Olympics than any other nation, six of 17, but the last came in 2002 from Fritz Strobl, who happens to be from the same region in southern Austria as Mayer. So is Franz Klammer, who won the 1976 Innsbruck Games downhill. Mayer has had more success in super-G, including a silver medal at the 2008 junior world championships and two second-place World Cup showings. Those super-G skills suited him well for the Olympic downhill course, which was extremely technical. At 3.5 kilometers (2.17 miles), the Rosa Khutor piste was also one of the most physically demanding tests skiers faced all season. With three big jumps, one of which sent skiers soaring into the air for 70 meters (yards), it provided for a spectacular race. However, the stands were only half full at the start due to an apparent traffic problem. They only filled up as the race wore on. Skies were cloudy and the temperature was slightly above freezing. The next event on the Alpine schedule is the womens super-combined Monday, followed by the womens downhill Wednesday. Air Max 720 NZ Sale . -- Keith Aulie has joined the Tampa Bay Lightning. NEW YORK -- The Wizards made the right call when they put the ball in Bradley Beals hands for a last shot Monday night. The Knicks decision to not take a timeout after Beal scored didnt work out so well. Beals driving layup with 6 seconds remaining lifted the Wizards to a 102-101 win when New York didnt use one of its three remaining timeouts and Carmelo Anthonys attempted a 3-pointer bounced off the rim as time expired. "I probably should have taken a timeout there at the end, but you know Beno (Udrih) grabbed it and the ball is in Melos hands before I could even react and I should have reacted a lot sooner once the ball went through the bucket," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. "So, thats on me." Beal led the Wizards with 21 points, including their final seven as Washington erased a six-point fourth-quarter deficit. "I knew in the huddle that if I came off the pick and roll, they were probably going to double me," Beal said. "My first instinct was to reject the screen and go baseline if I had it. There was absolutely nobody even paying attention, so I just drove it in there." After Beal scored, the Knicks inbounded the ball to Anthony and he dribbled up court before unleashing his game-winning attempt. "Thats a tough way to lose a game," Anthony said. "If he (Woodson) said its his fault theres no need for me to make excuses or talk about it. As players, we have to be smarter. We knew we had timeouts. I was just trying to get a shot." Martell Webster added 30 points, John Wall had 20 and Trevor Ariza had 10 points for the Wizards. Anthony finished with 32 for the Knicks. The victory snapped the Wizards 10-game losing streak at Madison Square Garden. The last Washington win in New York came on Dec. 6, 2006 "Its a great overall win for us," Beal said. "We havent won here since 2006. Thats a big accomplishment for us howw we stuck through adversity.dddddddddddd As a team, everybody stepped up." The Knicks led 100-97 after Andrea Bargnani hit two free throws with 1:07 left. But, Beal hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 45 seconds left. Udrih put the Knicks back in front by making one of two free throws with 24 seconds left. After a Wizards timeout, Beal ran down the clock before driving past Udrih and hitting the game-winning shot. The curious decision by the Knicks followed. "Well its easy to stop playing, make a basket, anticipate a timeout, start walking to the bench, and now all of a sudden you got one of the best players in the league come at you full bore," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "Even after the ball went in, we stayed up. I think we had two guys flying at Carmelo at the end." The Wizards led 53-42 at halftime and increased their lead to 59-44 on Arizas short jumper with 9:12 left in the third quarter. The Knicks then went on a 12-0 run, highlighted by consecutive 3-pointers by J.R. Smith and capped by Anthonys layup. New York went ahead 66-64 on Anthonys jumper with 3:06 left in the quarter and increased it to a game-high at 77-71 on another jumper from Anthony with 33 seconds left before settling for a 77-75 lead after three quarters. After shooting just 15-47 (31.9 per cent) in the first half, the Knicks went 13-19 (68.4 per cent) in the third quarter. Smith finished with 18 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 14, Bargnani had 13 and Udrih with 12. NOTES: Pablo Prigioni was taken out of the game with 9:49 left in the third quarter with a hairline fracture of his right toe. In an interview with the Times, BHA chief medical adviser Dr Jerry Hill said riders will have to undergo a three-part test of balance - an issue known to be affected during a concussion - when they apply for their yearly professional licence.More stringent background checks on historical problems regarded as potential contributory factors to concussion, such as depression and migraines, will also come into effect from August 1. Hill said: One of the challenges is that if you are concussed you may not realise your balance is affected. It is not until it is tested objectively that you find it is a problem. For a jockey, balance is obviously crucial. There will be some people who are naturally better with their balance than others so having a baseline is important for comparison.Hill also revealed plans for more exhaustive testing for symptoms associated with concussion when a jockey suffers a fall on a racecourse. All jockeys, both over jumps and on the Flat, are already checked by medics for concussion when they fall, but the BHA is keen to impose retesting on a raceday - even if a rider has been given the all-clear to immediately return to the saddle.Hill said: We are trying to pick up this concept of delayed concussion. What we need to make sure is that across the industry everyone appreciates there are better ways to manage concussion. SAN DIEGO -- Tanner Roark of the Washington Nationals probably wishes he could face the punchless San Diego Padres a few more times this season. Roark pitched three-hit ball for eight innings, struck out a career-high 11 and walked none, and Anthony Rendon hit a two-run homer Friday night to lead the Nationals to a 6-0 victory against the Padres. In two starts against the Padres this season, he has allowed only six hits in 17 scoreless innings, struck out 19 and walked one. "Everything felt good coming out of my hand," he said. "Thats a plus." The right-hander took a one-hitter into the eighth before Rene Rivera hit a leadoff single and pinch-hitter Tommy Medica had a one-out base hit. Roark (4-4) beat the Padres 4-0 at Washington on April 26th, throwing a three-hitter for his first career shutout. He struck out eight that game, his previous career high. Roark said the key was throwing first-pitch strikes. "That really gets a hitter on his heels and gives you confidence," he said. "I dont try to strike guys out. I just try to make quality pitches. Strikeouts happen. Today everything was working." Said manager Matt Williams: "Hes just been pitching like that for us all year. He just continues to pound the zone, all of his pitches. Pretty impressive." The Nationals won their fourth straight and for the sixth time in seven games. "Same thing he showed over in Washington," Padres manager Bud Black said of Roark. "Mixed his pitches, changed his speeds, commanded his fastball a little bit different than in his start in Washington. In Washington, he used his curveballs, more changeups." San Diego has just 15 hits in five games. On Wednesday, Everth Cabrera bunted for a single in the first inning for San Diegos only hit in a 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. "You have to keep going through it," Black said. "You have to keep your nose to the grindstone and keep working. There is no magic formula to this. You keep working, you keep busting your butt in the cage, you keep watching video, you keep your confidence, you keep telling yourself youre going to have good at-bats, you stay together as a team, you hang in there in the hopes that it will turn." Padres starter Tyson Ross (6-5) had a bad night. He walked Washingtons Denard Span to open the game and then allowed Rendons homer to left field, his ninth. Rendon, the third baseman, came out after grounding out in the sixth. He was struck in the right hand trying to field Carlos Quentins smash in the fourth inning and committed a throwing error. He committed a fielding error the next inning. Williams said X-rays were negative. Ross was chased during a nightmarish four-run sixth inning in which he had a throwing error, wild pitch, walked two, hit a batter and allowed two hits. Ross allowed an RBI double to Wilson Ramos that bounced over the fence in right-centre and then walked Ian Desmond to load the bases. Ross hit Danny Espinosa on the left knee to force in a run and Nate McClouth hit a two-run single to right to end Ross night. Ross allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits in 5 1-3 innings. He struck out seven and walked three. NOTES: The Padres placed 2B Jedd Gyorko on the 15-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, retroactive to Wednesday. MELBOURNE, Australia -- Norways Suzann Pettersen birdied her last three holes in a 6-under 66 on Thursday to lead the womens Australian Open by a shot after the first round at the Victoria Golf Club. Pettersen, winner of last years Evian Championships, had nine birdies and three bogeys, holding off a series of challengers led by Marion Ricordeau of France. The second-ranked Norwegian made her season debut after missing the LPGA Tours opening event last month in the Bahamas because of a shoulder injury. Shes in position to take the No. 1 spot in the world from Inbee Park with a victory or a solo second-place finish. "In the first round of the year youre always anxious to get started," Pettersen said. "It took me a while to get really comfortable, to trust what Ive been working on. "In the end the trust was stronger than the rest. I hit a lot of great shots but I also have to say I left a lot of shots out there. I three-putted a lot of greens, stupid three-putts really, but I also felt like I played good and gave myself a lot of birdie channces.ddddddddddddquot; Ricordeau, who had eight birdies, a bogey and a double bogey, briefly drew level with Pettersen before finishing among a group of four players with rounds of 67. Tied in second place were Park Hee-young of South Korea and Americans Jaclyn Sweeney and Jessica Korda, daughter of former tennis star Petr Korda and already a tournament winner this year. World No. 4 Lydia Ko of New Zealand was among a larger group at 4-under after a mixed opening round. The 16-year-old was one-under after her opening nine but came home with five birdies and two bogeys, including birdies at her last two holes. Australias Karrie Webb, a record four-time winner of the event, opened with a 71. The Hall of Famer had another brush with rules officials after being disqualified last week at Royal Pines for signing an incorrect scorecard after the second round. Webb started her round on the 10th tee Thursday and was told she had teed up fractionally in front of the tee marker. She was allowed to replace her ball without incurring a two-shot penalty. ST. PETERSBURG, Russia - A goal from Danny gave Zenit St. Petersburg a 1-0 win over Benfica Wednesday, giving a huge boost to the Russian teams hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.Danny struck in the 79th minute with a calm finish off an elegant curling cross from Hulk to earn what Zenit coach Andre Villas-Boas called a very important victory decided by one opportunity.Benfica had the better of the chances until then, with Eduardo Salvio shooting straight at Zenit goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin in the 18th and Luisao missing the target from close range five minutes into the second half.Prior to Dannys goal, Zenit had more shots than Benfica, but made much less impact, coming closest when Hulks free-kick forced a save from Julio Cesar after six minutes.Benfica captain Luisao was sent off in stoppage time, earning his second booking for a foul on Oleg Shatov. The win moves Zenit to second in Group C behind Bayer Leverkusen, while fourth-placed Benfica has been eliminated.Already without injured striker Alexander Kerzhakov, Zenit lost Nicolas Lombaerts and midfielder Javi Garcia to injury during the match, but neither appeared seriously hurt. Garnett has gone from Daviess County Country Club and then Missouri Western State to leading at Hogans Alley after two rounds at Colonial. After starting with an eagle, Garnett shot a 4-under 66 on Friday and moved to 7-under 133. He had a one-stroke lead over long-putting Chris Stroud (64) and Robert Streb (68). "Im just keeping my head down and trying to make as many birdies as possible," Garnett said. "Im going to try to embrace it this weekend and have fun, and well see where we stand come Sunday." Adam Scott, playing as No. 1 in the world for the first time, had birdies on three of his last seven holes for a 68 to get to 1 under. He has made the cut in his last 34 PGA Tour events, the longest active streak. Matt Kuchar, ranked No. 4 in the world, had a chance to move to the top with a victory. But he missed the cut by a stroke at 2-over 142 after a 70. The 30-year-old Garnett is from Gallatin, Missouri, a town of about 1,800 people. He has only one top-10 finish in his 18 previous starts on the PGA Tour, and has never won on the Web.com Tour. This is the first time he has even been in the top 10 after the second or third round on the PGA Tour. "I think each and every week the rookies feel more comfortable. I know I have," Garnett said. You cant get down on yourself being a rookie. ... Its been fun, and Im learning each and every day." First-round leader Dustin Johnson (70) dropped into a seven-way tie for fourth at 5 under. That group also included Texas resident Jimmy Walker (68), a three-time winner this season and No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings. Walker had a strange occurrence when his tee shot at the 17th hole appeared to nick a bird in flight — though the bird kept flying before Walker made another par. "We saw (the ball) fly the whole way and then it kind of disappeared over the ttrees," said Walker, the only player still without a bogey this week.dddddddddddd "I didnt see it." Stroud made five putts from over 20 feet, all coming in his last 12 holes. His made putts in the round combined for just under 221 feet, the most on the PGA Tour since Brent Geiberger covered 240 feet during the first round at Booz Allen in 2006. And Stroud did that using a new putter he picked up this week. "It has no lines on it. ... Ive been using another, but it had a bunch of lines on it," Stroud said. "I simplified my putting. Get over it, line up and try to bring the putter back square and back to the ball square at impact. Ive just been rolling it beautifully." Stroud drained a 16-footer on the 193-yard 13th hole, his third birdie of the day coming on his fourth hole. The Texas native was just getting started, with his first 20-footer coming at the par-3 16th when he made birdie from 23 1/2 feet. There was a 22-footer for birdie at the par-5 No. 1 hole, and he rolled in a 56-footer across the green at No. 4, the difficult 211-yard par 3. There was a 26-footer at No. 6 and yet another long birdie putt at his last par 3, a 34-footer at No. 8. "My driver has been bad. ... Ive hit it terrible the last two days. Really, really bad. But putted awesome," he said. "So I dont have to worry about the greens. I just need to get the ball on the greens. Usually its the opposite. I usually hit the ball really well and struggle to get the ball in the hole." On his final hole, the 406-yard dogleg-right ninth, Strouds approach was well left into a bleacher area near a concession stand. After a free drop and pitching to about 26 feet on the fringe, he two-putted from 26 feet for bogey. Tim Clark was 7 under and tied for the lead after four consecutive birdies only six holes into his round of 68. But he three-putted at the par-3 16th and didnt have another birdie until No. 9, his last hole, to get to 5 under and tied for fourth. CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Jose Bautista extended his torrid spring training with a double and Esmil Rogers gave up just one run in five innings Thursday as the Blue Jays beat a Philadelphia Phillies split squad 3-1. Bautista went 1 for 3, and is hitting .359 with five homers, four doubles and 11 RBIs. Erik Kratz homered twice and was 3 for 3, and Moises Sierra also connected for Toronto. Phillies starter David Buchanan gave up two of the homers but was sharp otherwise. Buchanan, who has a decent shot to make the team, gave up the two runs and struck out six in four innings. Buchanan started six games in Triple-A last year. Tony Gwynn Jr. went 2 for 2 with a double, a run and a walk. Chase Utley drove in Gwynn with a first-inning double for the Phillies only run. STARTING TIME Blue Jays: Esmil Rogers enjoyed his finest outing of the spring, allowing just one run over 4 2-3 innings. Rogers is unlikely to make the Blue Jays rotation, but could land a spot on the opening-day roster as a long bullpen arm. He has a 5.27 ERA this spring. "It doesnt matter where Im going to be I just want to help the team win," Rogers said. "It doesnt matter if its in the bullpen or as a starter. Right now, they gave me an opportunity to compete for a spot so Im going to do my best." Phillies: Buchanan, 25, is in his first major league spring training camp, and looks to have a solid shot to either join the Phillies hurting rotation or nab a spot in the bullpen as a long reliever. Buchanans runs came on back-to-back homers in the second inning. "I was impressed with his composure," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "He had a couple of balls that were connected on, one was an 0-2 breaking pitch, he kept his composure, actually came inside on a couple of hitters after that to keep them honest. I thought he rebounded well there to minimize." TRAINERS ROOM Phillies: Darin Ruf was scratched from the Phillies split-squad lineup in Kissimmee, Fla., after straining his left oblique during batting practice. He will visit with team doctors Saturday. The injury will likely cause Ruf, a leading candidate for a bench job, to miss opening day. "Hes a guy competing, obviously, with what hes doing and his ability, his right-handed bat, hes competing for a bench job," Sandberg said. "Well see what that means." Ruf is hitting .217 this spring with two homers and seven RBIs. GWYNN IMPRESSING Tony Gwynn Jr., who signed a minor league deal with the Phillies this winter, is making a good impression on Phillies coaches this spring. Gwynn went 2 for 3 Thursday. Hes hitting .346 and provides crucial depth for a team thin on outfielders. Its a strong possibility Gwynn begins the season on the 25-man roster. "Hes a bright spot," Sandberg said. "His defence, his at-bats, his base running, are quality." PICK UP The Blue Jays have claimed outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. To make room on the 40-man roster, they cut left-hander Luis Perez. Tuiasosopo appeared in 16 games this spring for the Diamondbacks, hitting .118 with six RBIs in 34 at-bats. He hit .244 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 81 games last year for Detroit. ANTIGONISH, N.S. – Donald Chisholm scored an emotional and convincing victory in front of the hometown crowd as he took his first career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 checkered flag in Saturdays Wilson Equipment 300 at Riverside International Speedway. The victory for Chisholm, from Antigonish, came in his 16th career start. A part-time competitor since 2007, he became the 15th different winner in Canadian Tire Series history. "I honestly can hardly believe that its happening," Chisholm said from Victory Lane. "Weve been fast a bunch [of times previously] with these guys and just had misfortune, and tonight it all stayed together." Chisholm, whose family owns Riverside, captured the victory less than two months after his father and track founder, John, passed away. Chisholm also earned his first career pole earlier in the evening. Chisholms No. 28 Keltic Ford/Nova Construction Ford was followed across the finish line by only three other lead lap cars: Alex Labbe, D.J. Kennington and Andrew Ranger. Both Kennington and Ranger passed Chisholm in the closing laps to rejoin the lead lap. Mark Dilley, points leader L.P. Dumoulin, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Noel Dowler and rookies John Flemming and Matthew Scannell brought home the top 10. Jason Hathaway appeared poised to defend his Riverside win from a year ago. He was cruising in the lead when he collided with the spun Flemming car while navigating lap traffic on Lap 240. For Labbe, who has turned in competitive performances this year in a part-time role, the runner-up was his best career Canadian Tire Series finish to-date. "We had a great run," Labbe said. "We had a great car at the end, struggled a bit at the beginning, and just made our way back through the pack. Im really happy to get my first podium here at Antigonish." Dumoulin leaves Riverside with the same points advantage he arrived with, 26 tallies ahead of Fitzpatrick, and now Ranger, who is tied for second. Hathaways Riverside misfortune now has him 47 points back in fourth. Each of the last two Canadian Tire Series races have featured hometown winners. In addition to Chisholm, Dumoulin was victorious last week in his native Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. Chisholm also became the first first-time winner the Canadian Tire Series has featured since Dumoulin won the 2013 season-opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Mark Teahen scored the go-ahead run in the home seventh on an error by Scott Sizemore, who had knotted the game with a solo homer in the previous half- inning. Paul Konerko then hit an RBI single which proved to be the winning run.It was broad smiles all around from head coach Frank Klopas and Sporting Director Nick de Santis as the Impact put on their brave and cheery faces at training yesterday. Hard to imagine this is a club who are firmly entrenched at the bottom of the Eastern Conference as results this season mirror the tailspin the Impact suffered throughout the later stages of the 2013 season. Last Saturdays Kansas City shambles offered very few shreds of comfort or optimism for a club who have only claimed a solitary victory over the course of their last 15 regular season matches. Coincidentally, that win - secured in the final home match of the 2013 season - came against the Philadelphia Union who will be the opponent for the Impacts Saputo Stadium home opener Saturday afternoon. Going into this season there was no expectation the Impact would start in the same forthright manner they did in 2013, where they had already accumulated 16 points and by a distance were the form team of the Eastern Conference through seven games. By the same token nobody in the organization would have thought the club would still be in search of its first win on the back of the worst start of the season in club history. By a quirk of fate Klopas old flame, the Chicago Fire, are the only other winless team in the conference. Any thought Klopas would suffer a similar fate of so many Impact coaches before were completely dismissed out of hand by De Santis yesterday, as he offered full and unequivocal support for his besieged head coach. De Santis could not have appeared more genuine as he addressed the media first in French and then reinforced the same message when switching to English as he expressed complete confidence in his coaching staff. “Its frustrating, its disappointing but we do need to stay patient,” De Santis said of the Imapcts start. The opening goal conceded against the reigning MLS Cup champions was a Callum Mallace attempt at a headed clearance that found nothing but the roof of the Impact net. It typifies the run of ill fortune the Impact has experienced so far this season. One that by this stage drains, and erodes confidence levels allowing for the doubts to set in. This was evident during the second half in Kansas where as a team they completely lacked conviction and confidence. After Marco Di Vaio was forced off injured in minute 55, many players became mere shadows of themselves as they conceded three soft goals. After the match Impact captain Patrice Bernier could offer little explanation of why the team had performed so poorly though the second half. If the Impact is to salvage their season this has to represent rock bottom. Playing at Saputo Stadium for a first ttime this season offers up the perfect tonic.dddddddddddd. Training yesterday took place at the clubs training pitch adjacent to the stadium and was conducted under glorious blue skies, which is in stark contrast to training and playing at a dreary appearing Olympic Stadium. A spring was in everyones steps, a certain buoyancy in the air. Di Vaio - who will be the first to admit that his form this season is far from where he would like it to be, or where the club needs it to be - seems likely to overcome the slight hamstring strain and should be available Saturday. Someone who likely again wont feature is Argentine DP Hernan Bernardello. Yesterday De Santis spoke of the midfielders fellow countryman Igniacio Piatti, who currently plays for San Lorenzo. The Impacts Sporting Director admitted the club was very much hoping to bring him in during the upcoming transfer window. Dont expect summer shopping to be limited to merely adding a third and final DP. This is a club who throughout its 20-plus-year history doesnt shy away from making the investments where needed. Bolstering the lineup and adding greater depth will certainly enhance the Impacts chances in the second half of the season. For now, though, its about getting the optimum performances from all the players at their disposal. This is something Klopas admitted earlier in the week was keeping him awake at night. In the lead up to Saturdays game much has been made in both Montreal and Philadelphia about Andrew Wengers return to Saputo Stadium. Wenger even got in on the act himself in the week when he spoke of his time in Montreal and learning much from Marco. Referring to Di Vaio, this was clearly a backhanded slap in the direction of Marco Schallibaum. As the team were putting in some of their final preparations for Saturday afternoons encounter, the finishing touches were been applied to Saputo Stadium. The pitch looks in perfect shape. The last time the club took to that pitch was last Oct. 19 in what was a must-win game for the Impact - who had gone into the game on the back of a six-game winless skid. Philly took the early lead before Di Vaio notched his 20th goal of the season and Karl Ouimette scored the late winner. The opponent will be the same Saturday afternoon, and the club fully need a similar result. Houston, TX - The Houston Rockets have agreed to a three- year extension with head coach Kevin McHale that will run through the 2017-18 season. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey relayed the news via Twitter Wednesday morning, with the Rockets confirming the agreement shortly afterward. Very excited about Coach McHales extension, Morey tweeted. He is the winningest coach in Rockets history and knows what it takes to win championships. Though the Rockets did not reveal financial terms of the new contract, Yahoo! Sports reported the pact to be worth close to $13 million. McHale was in the final season of the original four-year deal the Hall of Fame player signed to become Houstons head coach in June of 2011. The 57-year-olds long-term status with the organization had been unclear entering this season, with the Rockets losing in the first round of the playoffs in each of the previous two years. However, Houston got off to a 9-1 start and ranks among the Western Conferences top teams with a 20-7 overall record. McHale owns a 153-104 record in his three-plus seasons with the Rockets and guided the team to a 54-win campaign in 2013-14, the franchises largest victory total since 2007-08. His .595 winning percentage is the highest in club history. Kevin is an integral part of the Rockets family, said Rockets owner Leslie Alexander. He embodies the leadership, passion, knowledge, and team-first qualities we need as we continue our pursuit of bringing another NBA Championship to the City of Houston and Rockets fans all over the world. A three-time NBA champion, McHale previously spent two separate stints as the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach, compiling a 39-55 record with that franchise. Wholesale Air Max 720 Uk . -- DeMarcus Cousins had 29 points, nine rebounds and six steals to lead the Sacramento Kings to their third straight preseason win, a 107-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night.KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Whenever a Royals pitcher has issued a walk lately, the runner has usually scored. So when Ned Yosts own guys worked a pair of walks against the Yankees on Saturday night in the sixth inning of a tied game, the often-dour manager had an optimistic thought. "Lets turn it around this time," Yost said. Salvador Perez did just that. The big catcher belted a three-run homer into the bullpen in left field, and Eric Hosmer added a solo shot later in the game, sending Kansas City to an 8-4 victory over New York. "Ive said all along, I thought we have home-run power," said Yost, whose team has hit just 26 homers -- by far the fewest in the majors. "Itll manifest itself in time." Alex Gordon, Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar and Nori Aoki drove in a run apiece as the Royals bounced back from an offensively inept performance in a 4-2 series-opening loss Friday night. Aaron Crow (3-1) retired one batter in the sixth in relief of starter Danny Duffy, and breezed through the seventh to earn the victory. Kelvin Herrera and Michael Mariot finished it off. David Phelps (1-4) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and two walks in 5 2-3 innings. "Frustrating is the PG-rated word for it," he said. "I was pitching decent going into later parts of games, but its tough to win ballgames when you give up four runs in the sixth and seventh inning. Its frustrating." Yangervis Solarte drove in a pair of runs for New York, and Carlos Beltran -- whos been bothered by an ailing elbow and is still relegated to designated hitter duty -- got an RBI with his first hit since coming off the disabled list Thursday. "Its like starting over for me," Beltran said. "One day, two days is not going to do it, any difference. Basically you have to play every day and with playing time that will come. I cannot tell you (when). I wish I could know." The Royals struck first when Billy Butler and Gordon led off the second inning with back-to-back doubles, and Cain and Escobar provided run-scoring singles for a 3-0 lead. It took the Yankees until the sixth tto answer.dddddddddddd Derek Jeter started the rally with a single and Mark Teixeira kept it going with a two-out walk. Beltran followed with an RBI double against his former team, and Solarte tied the game 3-all when his sinking liner to centre field dropped just beyond Cains outstretched glove. Duffy, who appeared bothered by lengthy waits for television breaks between innings, was eventually removed after allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in 5 2-3 innings. The Royals made sure to pick him up. Butler and Gordon worked walks to start the bottom half of the sixth, earning Phelps a visit from Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild. It didnt do any good. Two pitches later, Perez sent a no-doubt homer into the bullpen in left field to restore the Royals three-run lead. "We needed that," Perez said. "Its not been easy, but its coming." Cain tripled later in the inning, and Aokis RBI single knocked Phelps from the game. "We just scored three runs. Thats the worst kind of team error right there," Phelps said. "To go out and we have all the momentum right there and in nine pitches gave it right back." It was another poor outing by the Yankees right-hander, who moved from the bullpen into the rotation last month. Phelps has lost four straight decisions, allowing 16 runs in the last three. Hosmers homer leading off the seventh was his first since May 5, a span of 130 at-bats, and Brian Roberts tacked on a run off Mariot in the ninth inning that proved to be moot. "Youve got to keep battling back," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "Were still fighting." NOTES: The Yankees have not scored more than four runs in any of their last nine games. ... Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to 12 games. ... Royals 2B Omar Infante went 0 for 5, extending his slump to 0 for 18. ... Switzerland won the Davis Cup first-round tie against Serbia after Marco Chiudinelli and Michael Lammer beat Nenad Zimonjic and Filip Krajinovic in doubles for an unbeatable 3-0 lead on Saturday. Switzerland faces Belgium or Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals in April. Serbia dropped into the World Group playoffs in September. A confident Chiudinelli and Lammer defeated veteran doubles player Zimonjic and young Krajinovic 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2. The Serb pair fought hard and appeared even, forcing a tiebreak in the first set and winning the second. But Zimonjic and Krajinovic failed to convert two break points at 5-5 in the third set, allowing the Swiss to regain confidence and cruise to victory in the fourth set. "We wanted to get the three points, we have the victory already on Saturday," Lammer said. "We are in the quarterfinals for the first time in a long time, which is very exciting for Switzerland." Serbia captain Bogdan Obradovic said: "Our guys did their best, but didnt have luck." On Friday, Swiss stars Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka won the opening singles. Federer was making his first Davis Cup appearance since 2012. Serbia, last years finalist, was playing without its three top players, Novak Djokovic, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki. The second-ranked Djokovic decided to rest after losing to Wawrinka in the Australian Open quarterfinals, while Tipsarevic was nursing a heel injury and Troicki was serving a 12-month doping ban for failing to appear at a test. That meant 102nd-ranked Dusan Lajovic was Serbias highest-ranked team member. Coach Obradovic said he hoped the top players will be back next year. "All that is left is to reorganize and fight to stay in the World Group," he said. Cheap Jordan 6 Australia Sale . Overtime was one of many of topics discussed at Tuesdays annual general managers meeting after Hockey Hall of Fame induction night, along with fighting, hybrid icing and the playoff format that was introduced for this season. No formal rule changes came about, though the purpose of this get-together is more to set up the next meeting in March. Forty of the first 262 games this season have gone to a shootout. GMs have been discussing making overtime 10 minutes to cut down on shootouts "to some degree," according to Ken Holland of the Detroit Red Wings. Holland proposed five minutes of four-on-four and then three minutes of three-on-three, while Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues and others want simply 10 minutes of four-on-four. "I think there was an appetite in the room from all the managers and also from (commissioner Gary Bettman) to look at a way to extend overtime," Holland said. "And were talking about possibly do we switch (ends), longer changes and do some things to try to maybe have better ice, whether its more shovelling or something." Holland said its possible overtime gets extended to seven or eight minutes instead of 10, which he considers an improvement he could live with. Fighting was discussed both in general terms and in regard to goaltenders, after incidents this season involving Montreal tough guy George Parros suffering a concussioon after his head hit the ice and Philadelphia goaltender Ray Emery skating over the red-line to pummel Washington netminder Braden Holtby.dddddddddddd. Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said there wasnt much of a push to change the punishment for skaters fighting, but he and his colleagues discussed adding more of a punishment for goalies who cross centre to fight like Emery did. The GMs also got clarification on the playoff format, which could include wild-card teams crossing over because of total points even if four make it from each division in one conference. Under the new alignment and format, the top three teams from each division and two wild cards from each conference qualify. "Certainly my personal opinion is wherever possible to stay within the division, it creates rivalries, less travel," Holland said. "Thats obviously part of the reason why we went to two divisions in each conference was to build rivalries, less travel. Obviously theres a crossover component, we talked about it today, and thats why were going to continue to talk about it in March." Director of officiating Stephen Walkom briefed the GMs on hybrid icing, which Bettman said Monday was an ongoing adjustment for players and officials. Walkom said there are roughly the same number of icing plays as previous seasons but noted that no one has been injured crashing into the boards. Bullying was brought up in light of the situation with Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin of the NFLs Miami Dolphins. "Every now and then, we all have to be reminded about whats acceptable and whats not," Yzerman said. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- After sleep-walking through the first half, the Grizzlies managed to wake up in time to claim their fifth straight victory at home. Zach Randolph had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Memphis used a big second half to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-96 Saturday night. "Coach just stated the obvious -- that we cant let a team come in here and dominate us on both ends of the court," Memphis guard Mike Conley said of Dave Joergers halftime speech. "We just went out there and tried to be aggressive defensively." Randolph had 17 points in the second half to help Memphis outscore Cleveland 56-31 and rally from an early 15-point deficit. Conley and Marc Gasol scored 22 each for the Grizzlies. Conley added seven assists and Gasol had six. Courtney Lee finished with 19 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, and Tony Allen had 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. "Sometimes its just him getting himself going," Gasol said of Randolph in the second half. "Hes so hard to stop that no matter what they try to do its just Zach being Zach." Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers with 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while Tristan Thompson was 8 of 10 for 18 points. Spencer Hawes had 13 points and Luol Deng 11. "Guys are going to make runs," Irving said. "They made their run. They had a hit-first mentality going into that second half." Memphis took control with its big third quarter and led by 91-83 with 8:56 left in the fourth. The Cavaliers used six straight points from Irving to pull within 95-94 with 4:03 left. But a baseline 8-footer by Randolph and a 3-pointer from Conley restored Memphis cushion. By the time Gasol scored on a hook shot with 1:13 left the Grizzlies lead was in double digits. "It was effort, energy and focus," Joerger said of the second-half effort that held the Cavaliers to 34 per cent shooting. ".We were making one, two or three efforts. The energy picked up, and we made multiple efforts. They didnt have a lot of second chances." The Cavaliers dominated the first half, leading by as many as 15 points and taking a 65-54 lead into the break. The Grizzlies provided little resistance and Cleveland shot just under 70 per cent for much of the half before going to the locker room at 61 per cent. "In the first half we were the ones who were more physical," Cleveland coach Mike Brown said. "We were the ones hitting first." The energy and intensity increased for Memphis to open the second half and that translated into a 21-8 run to overtake Cleveland just past the midway point of the third. At that point, Cleveland had committed five turnovers in the quarter. Memphis would stretch the run to 26-8, including 17 straight points, for an 80-73 lead that became an 87-80 advantage entering the final frame. "There were positives from it," Irving said. "We fought hard to the end with the exception of the last 3 minutes. We can live with the effort." NOTES: Irving has scored at least 20 points in 17 of last 23 games. ... The Cavaliers 65 points in the first half were the most scored by a Memphis opponent in a half this season. The previous high was 62 in the second half by Dallas on Nov. 2. ... Gasol hit a shot at the end of the first quarter from beyond half court and banked it in. It was shown on the score sheet as 60 feet. It was his first 3-pointer of the season. ... The Toffees entered Monday having already clinched their Europa League group but coming off a 1-0 loss to Krasnador on Thursday and needing a win in league play to get back on track. The home side opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Ross Barkley collected a long ball on the end of the box and ripped it just inside the left post and into the top left corner, leaving QPR goalkeeper Robert Green with little chance for a save. Roberto Martinezs side doubled the advantage just one minutes before the intermission when Kevin Mirallas fired a free kick from the right side of the pitch just outside the box that took a wicked deflection off the wall and beat Green into the bottom left corner.dddddddddddd. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Martin Perez kept his pitches low in the zone and got plenty of help from the Texas defence. Perez threw eight scoreless innings with the benefit of four double-play grounders, plus two runners thrown out trying to steal a base, and the Rangers got a series-clinching 1-0 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. "That happens when you throw all your pitches down and you get a lot of groundballs," Perez said. "If you can throw strikes with runners on base, you can get a win, you can get the outs. You have to make a pitch and trust your stuff." The lone run came on a sacrifice fly in the sixth by Donnie Murphy, who was in the game only because shortstop Elvis Andrus got ejected at the end of the third after taking a called third strike. Andrus tossed his bat away from the plate and then said something to home plate umpire Alan Porter. "As soon as I saw (the ump) point at him, I automatically threw off the hoodie and got loose, so I didnt really have much time to think about it," said Murphy, who joined the Rangers at the end of spring training. "Its always nice when you dont start the game just to come in and contribute like that." Perez (2-0) struck out two while scattering five hits and three walks. Catcher Robinson Chirinos threw out would-be base stealers in the third and fifth innings. Alexi Ogando worked a perfect ninth to convert his first save chance. Murphys deep flyball to the left-centre gap in the sixth sent home Josh Wilson against Brett Oberholtzer (0-3), who had a career-high seven strikeouts with no walks. "Oberholtzer was outstanding. Our starters did a tremendous job this whole series. The starts put us in a position to win every game," Astros manager Bo Porter said. "Weve got to get (the offence) going. If you dont score, youve got zero chance of winning." The Astros, who have scored only four runs in Oberholtzers three starts, scored in only two of their 31 innings against Texas. They had a five-run fourth inning Saturday before the game-winning run in the 10th. It was only the 10th 1-0 victory for the Rangers in their 1,601 regular-season home games since moving into their current ballpark 20 years ago. It was their second in three games against the Astros, the first time Texas has ever had multiple 1-0 wins in the same series -- home or away. Texas won the series opener 1-0 in 12 innings Friday night after Yu Darvish was perfect thru five innings. The Astros won 6-5 in 10 innings Saturday to snap their 12-game losing streak to their instate AL West rival. Houston has scored only four runs in the three games started this season by Oberholtzer, who struck out a career-high seven in seven innings against Texas. Texas has won its last 15 series against the Astros since dropping two of three at Houston in June 2008. Andrus struck out in both of his at-bats, ending his season-opening 11-game hitting streak that was second-longest in team history. Al Oliver had hits in the Rangers first 13 games to start the 1979 season. Prince Fielder finished 0 for 3, dropping his average to .149 through his first 12 games with the Rangers. The Astros used a drastic shift against him this weekend that took away several hits, including a sharp liner caught by second baseman Jose Altuve in shallow right to end the sixth Sunday. Altuve fielded a ground near that spot in the fourth. NOTES: It took only 44 seconds in the first inning for replay to overturn first base umpire Joe Wests call that Shin-Soo Choo was safe at first base. West had ruled that Altuves throw had pulled Jesus Guzman off first base. Porter came out, and replay showed that Guzman had stayed on the base and Choo was out. ... Murphy played second base, and Wilson moved from second base to shortstop. ... Rain was falling when the game started, but the sun was out when it ended 2 hours, 15 minutes later. United on Saturday. "Were not happy," Perkins said. "Were not sad." That was the consensus in Montreals locker-room after United forward Eddie Johnsons 84th-minute strike negated a goal from red-hot Impact striker Jack McInerney at RFK Stadium. While Montreal (1-5-4) regretted giving up the lead, a point on the road on short rest gave the Impact reason for optimism as they try to escape the Eastern Conference cellar. The Impact were playing just three days after a 4-2 win over FC Edmonton, which earned them a berth in the Canadian Championship final. Montreals most recent league outing was a 3-0 home loss to Sporting Kansas City last weekend. "It felt a little bit like a disappointment, but its something to build on," Impact coach Frank Klopas said. "It was a question mark with some of the guys, playing midweek and a lot of travel, so it was good to see the effort that they put in as a whole." For McInerney, the 56th-minute goal was his fourth in his past four games in all competitions, and his fifth overall since joining the Impact in an April 4 trade from the Philadelphia Union. Stealing a bad first touch off the foot of United left back Cristian Fernandez, Impact winger Justin Mapp raced down the right side, cut inside and found McInerney in front for the simple finish. With 2013 MVP finalist Marco Di Vaio (20 goals last season) sidelined by a hamstring injury in recent weeks, McInerney has proven to be a more-than-viable backup plan. "Thats a striker for you," Klopas said. "Every twwo, three games, you want a guy thats going to score.dddddddddddd Hes been doing that, so thats something thats very positive. Hes always around the goal, and thats a very good sign." It was the third assist of a McInerney goal for Mapp, who played with him in Philadelphia from 2010 to 2011. "He (Mapp) is getting the ball in good spots and making it easy for me, so hopefully we can keep it going," McInerney said. United (4-3-3) enjoyed 57 per cent of the possession and twice struck the crossbar, while Montreal created a myriad of chances of its own. Speedy winger Sanna Nyassi found himself repeatedly denied by stellar stops from United goalkeeper Bill Hamid. When one of Nyassis rebounds fell to McInerney, the strikers second strike was denied by diving United right back Chris Korb. "Thats the best weve played -- possession, buildup, defending well," Perkins said. Johnson rose to nod home a Fabian Espindola cross at the far post with six minutes remaining. The goal was the first tally since an off-season trade from the Seattle Sounders for Johnson, who was snubbed this week from the U.S. national teams preliminary World Cup roster. The combination of Wednesdays win over Edmonton and Saturdays road draw left the Impact feeling positive heading into a trip to face the Colorado Rapids next Saturday at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. "At the end of the day, if we want to make a little run into the playoffs, we need to put those chances away," McInerney said. "It should have been 2-, 3-0. But I think we came in and we surprised a lot of people, so well take the point and move on." TORONTO - Whatever momentum they built up before the 18-day Olympic break is suddenly gone. Three straight losses have quieted the Maple Leafs - winners of 11 of 14 before the stoppage - who dropped a 2-1 decision to Columbus at the ACC on Monday night, their third loss in as many games to the Blue Jackets this season. Alongside overtime defeats in Long Island and Montreal, the interim trends in Toronto are subtly veering in the wrong direction, though they still have ownership of the first wild card position in the East. "The three losses hurt because we had points available to us on the road," head coach Randy Carlyle said, referring to overtime defeats against the Islanders and Canadiens. "Thats the hard part is when you lose two overtime games on the road and we had a one-goal lead in both games. That kicks you. That doesnt feel very good." The most recent case saw his team start strong, stall midway through and eventually push back with a charge that was ultimately too late. "I think part of it is somewhat of an Olympic hangover," said James Reimer, making a rare start in place of Jonathan Bernier. "The last three games its been anyones game, its been a one-goal game and two of them have gone into overtime. I think were right there; were just missing it by a little bit. All three games couldve been Ws for us so I dont think its anything to worry about." The Leafs started the evening strongly with a flurry of opportunities and pair of power-plays, but failed to get anything beyond the reach of Sergei Bobrovsky, nor the multiple bodies that stood at his defence. Phil Kessel snuck one shot through the pads, but it spun just above the goal-line before Bobrovsky rushed it to cover. The home foot came off the gas in the middle period with Columbus scoring twice in less than three minutes. The Leafs turned pucks over, lost battles and wandered around hopelessly in the defensive zone. They failed to even record a shot before Dalton Prout scored the games first goal. Cody Franson labeled it a "mediocre" 20 minutes. "We tried to get cute with the puck and turned it over too many times," he said. "When you play a team that has that type of forechecking style and transition ability its not what you want to do ideally." "I think that was more of a mental lapse than anything because we just started wandering around," Carlyle said. "For the first period we had lots of life, we were on our toes and jumping to pucks and we were winning our battles. In the second we just started to stall in the neutral ice." A late third period rally yielded a goal from Mason Raymond, but nothing more as the Blue Jackets swept the season series from their new Eastern Conference counterpart, outscoring them 13-3 in the process. The Toronto dressing room was hardly in a state of panic afterward. Though dismayed with their performance against a mediocre Islanders squad last week, they were generally pleased with their effort in Montreal over the weekend - outside of penalty trouble and another lost third period lead - and pointed to the loss to Columbus as an incomplete effort, but not one that should cause alarm. They cant hide from points left on the table, however, especially against those theyre either chasing (Canadiens) or those chasing them (Blue Jackets) and a difficult schedule ahead. Just behind the Leafs (72 points) in the standings are the likes of Detroit (68), Washington (68) and these very Blue Jackets (67), all with games in hand and opportunity to narrow the gap further. The alarm should not be sounded with three straight losses, but some degree of caution should be taken by those wearing the blue and white. "Were fine," said Joffrey Lupul afterward. "Were certainly not losing perspective, but were not happy about losing two points to a team below us in the standings." Five Points 1. Rare Start James Reimer hadnt made a start for the Leafs since Jan. 25, a long stretch of 37 days that saw Jonathan Bernier gripping tight on the starting job right into the 18-day Olympic break. "Besides an injury I dont know if Ive ever had this much time in between starts," Reimer said. In spite of the long layoff, the 25-year-old looked sharp, stopping 31 of the 33 shots peppered by Columbus, including a Nick Foligno breakaway in the opening five minutes. "There was a little rust there," said Reimer, "but honestly I felt pretty good. I felt like I battled as hard as I could and tried to fight to see the puck and its unfortunate we came up a little short tonight." The two that passed could hardly be pinned his way. The first from Prout sailed through a maze of traffic from the point, the latter from Artem Anisimov coming by way of a laser back-door point pass from Nikita Nikitin. "I dont think you can point to the goaltending as a deficiency, thats for sure," said Carlyle. "He did his part to give us a chance." 2. Rare Night off the Scoresheet Kessel missed his 34th goal of the year by mere inches. The 26-year-old had a rare night off the scoresheet, finishing with two shots in just over 23 minutes of ice. It was just the third time in the past 18 games that the scorching Kessel failed to register a point. Indicative of his value, the Leafs dropped to 4-17-2 this season on such nights, a rarity these days for sure. 3. Power-play Life Unhappy with the state of his clubs special teams, Carlyle directed that the near-entirety of Sundays practice be spent on the matter. Much of the focus a day before the game against Columbus centered on a power-play that was suddenly missing much of its pep. "We stood around," he said of the man advantage in losses to New York and Montreal. "And other teams have made adjustments to our break-out and we havent reacted to what we normally would do in situations. Obviously other coaches in the league do pre-scout. They do work to devise plans against what you do." Though they failed to score in two attempts on this night - now 0-13 in the past six games - they did manage some signs of life, including a good opportunity for Morgan Rielly in the first frame. "At least today our power-play created some momentum for us whereas in the past couple games it seemed like itd been a bit of a momentum killer," said Lupul. The Leafs own the leagues fifth-best power-play this season with much of that success coming on home ice – they sit second in the NHL at 26.5 per cent. Considering their ineffectiveness on the penalty kill its an area theyll want to right soon. 4. Trade Deadline Dave Nonis made a minor move at the trade deadline last season, adding Ryan OByrne from Colorado for a fourth round draft pick. The Leafs general manager and his management team have essentially shunned the idea of adding another such rental this time around. Unlike in years past theres not much in the way of frenzy surrounding the club heading into the Mar. 5 deadline, but in Carlyles eyes - traded himself once at the deadline - it remains a distraction for players. "The trade deadlines always a factor in any hockey players life," said Carlyle, traded to Winnipeg from Pittsburgh for a first round pick on Mar. 5th, 1984. "Having played for a number of years and lived and died in one. It was one of those situations that you remember. Its not a lot of fun being a player at this time of year. In todays Twitter world and blogging and that, theres a lot more rumours floating around so its obviously a lot more to it than when I was moved in 84. I dont think they had Twitter then did they?" 5. Rare Home Ice Defeat Before falling Monday to the Blue Jackets the Leafs hadnt lost in Toronto since Jan. 7, a 5-3 defeat that night to the pesky New York Islanders. They had reeled off seven consecutive wins at home for the first time since the 2006-07 season, Stats-Pack 13-3 - Goal differential between Leafs and Blue Jackets this season, favouring Columbus. 4-17-2 - Leafs record this season when Phil Kessel fails to record a point. 0-13 - Toronto power-play in the past six games. 24:46 - Ice-time for James van Riemsdyk versus Columbus, leading the team. 21-11-1 - Leafs record at home this season. 2:54 - Amount of time it took the Blue Jackets to score twice in the second period on Monday. 37 - Days between starts for James Reimer. RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Columbus Blue Jackets took advantage of a couple of late defensive lapses by the Carolina Hurricanes. Ryan Johansen and Jack Skille scored 1:28 apart late in the third period to rally for a 4-3 victory on Monday night. After Alexander Semin scored midway through the third period to give Carolina a 3-2 lead, the Hurricanes struggled in the final five minutes to allow the Columbus comeback. "You cant make mistakes late in the game that are going to cost you," Carolina coach Kirk Muller said. "We made two mistakes in the third. It was a game of errors and we made two and they made us pay for both of them." Johansen took advantage of a Carolina turnover and scored on an odd-man rush with a pass from Nick Foligno at 15:58 of the third to make it 3-3. Then at 17:26, Carolina executed a poor line change that allowed Skille to find open ice on the right wing that led to the game-winning goal. Skille said the comeback was a team effort. "We wanted to finish strong and were the type of team that will never give up," Skille said. "Everyone wants to win and that was the key to that third period."
